Let us introduce the Norolan Cruella Ice Fly – a “fly balance jig.” An ice fishing fly that combines the best features of a fly, a mormyshka, and a balance jig.

Cruella is tied using the classic leech pattern, but we created it in a way never before seen in an ice fishing fly. Its unique weighting makes the fly swim horizontally during jigging, similar to a balance jig. The added weight provides excellent feel and allows for controlled presentation.

Works on its own or as an extension to a jig

The Cruella Ice Fly can be fished on its own just like a mormyshka. A subtle twitch is enough—the fly stays in place while the tail moves with delicate sensitivity. Compared to a traditional mormyshka, Cruella’s key difference lies in its real marabou feathers. They react to even the slightest movement, creating constant, natural lifelike action—even during pauses.

The Cruella Ice Fly also works exceptionally well as a dropper on a leader behind a jig. In this setup, Norolan’s wide-action jigs give it a more dynamic movement. The fly follows the jig’s motion while still maintaining its own subtle character.
